Neubau Eyewear Teams Up With Female Creatives For French Riviera Capsule

After weeks and months stuck indoors, we’re all dreaming of the French Riviera. Sun, sea and joie de vivre, nothing beats the south of France in the summer, or to be honest, any time at all. Austrian eyewear label Neubau is feeling the same way, and has launched a new collection celebrating the cool riviera vibes of the 1960s called Côte du Soleil.
The collection features three new pairs of sunnies that are made with 100% bio-based materials and printed with 3D technology, so you know you are doing good for the planet while channelling Brigitte Bardot. Recalling memories of balmy summer days in the South of France, the sunnies’ use of natural materials and state-of-the-art technology translates its unique aesthetic into sunglasses that are each available in two color-ways.
Particularly inspired by the pool, the three styles – ROMY, ALAIN and MAURICE – are inspired by Jacques Deray’s film La Piscine, featuring Jane Birken.
During the 1960s, the South of France was evolving as a hotspot for ground-breaking developments in art, design and film and is still regarded as a place that combines languid allure with an indefinable feeling of freedom to this day. Characterised by its new aesthetic, the Côte d’Azur provided a kind of sanctuary for icons like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, who heralded the dawning of a new era with their art, meaning that this new collection is an obvious must-buy for art girls heading to the French coast.
In fact, the shades have even inspired some of our favorite artists Natacha Paschal, Marie Sylvia Llamozas and Jen Dwyer, who have each collabed with Neubau to produce arty tutorials on IG. So basically, these classic sunnies are the perfect eyewear for artsy girls this summer, and probably, next summer too.
