EXCLUSIVE FASHION NEWS FROM VOGUE AUSTRALIA by ANGELICA XIDIAS
14 years in the making.
Sass & Bide will be returning to Australian shores to present their resort 2018 collection at Sydney’s Carriageworks for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia in May, Vogue can exclusively announce.
Having presented their last official collection in Sydney way back in 2003, Vogue spoke exclusively to Sass & Bide’s head designer, Sophia Berman, on the motivation behind their return.
“MBFWA is now a global destination of international standard for resort, which at Sass & Bide is one of our favourite seasons, so it feels right to show here now and support Australian fashion,” explains Berman. “We now have over 45 locations in Australia and are at essence an Australian brand, based in Sydney, with an international outlook.”
So what we can expect for the show?
“We’ve been working on new innovative techniques and ideas while staying true to the brand aesthetic. Art and culture inspire us always, and this season it is especially the architecture of Antonio Gaudi, with its mesmerizing mixture of decoration and modernist design, which was our starting point.”
MBFWA will run from May 14-20 with cult Australian label, Dion Lee set to open the show.
